Pause…then Respond

How many times have you spoken before pausing to think about your words? If you’re anything like me, the answer is too many times to count. I read something this morning from¬†“In God’s Care”¬†that caught my attention.

“In a moment’s pause…may come a clear message indicating how we are to act or what we are to say.”

Hmm…in a moment’s pause…that’s not much time now, is it? It could make all the difference in the world. I know that when I pause before reacting, I have the opportunity to breathe through any agitation or annoyance I might be feeling in that moment. When I pause before speaking or taking action, I give myself a chance to allow Spirit to respond. That, my friends, is the best thing I can do for all parties concerned (wink, wink!)

What if there isn’t a “clear message”? What can we do when we’re unsure of what to do next? I have practiced walking away…not in a rude way…just excusing myself from the situation so I don’t say something I’ll regret. I have learned it is best to move forward with care. I have a friend who often says she operates with “ready, fire, and then aim” and this does not always work out well. Haha! I’ve done that too and I now try to avoid it whenever possible.

The direction I need to take today is this. I will pause when necessary. I will open my mind to welcome the clear messages that are waiting to be delivered. I trust that the answers are available, from within, and I welcome them with open arms.

Have a great day!
