Off to the Races

I feel like I’m off to the races in more ways than one. I’m driving a lot these days, I’m studying for school, and I’m interviewing for part-time work. And, last night, I literally went to the races – at Stafford Springs Speedway in CT. I’m loving this busy schedule! So far, at least (wink, wink)!!!

What do you do to stay balanced when life is so, so busy? I sometimes need to pause, take a deep breath, and relax into the moment. It may take two or three or even five deep breaths, but it always helps to slow me down enough to regroup and begin again. When I feel like I’m racing around too much, this deep breathing is my go-to for getting back to my center.

There are other ways to cope with busy schedules. It’s important to take some time off, even if it’s for a short period of time. I find it helpful to do something that doesn’t require too much thinking. I’ll watch some sports on TV or I’ll watch a movie on Netflix. I might even take a nap so I can feel refreshed and ready for the next round of tasks.

It’s important to pay attention and be aware of what our bodies are telling us. We can’t be helpful or useful to anyone or anything if we aren’t taking care of our own selves. So, today, I’m committed to remaining alert as I go through a busy day of working on multiple tasks. I’m dedicated to completing as much as possible without experiencing anxiety or worry. I will breathe…deeply. Join me, won’t you?
